Description

M51 taken with my new ASI294MC-Pro camera. Since I do not get a lot of imaging time, traditional LRGB with a mono is tough to do. I figured a cooled OCS would increase my productivity so I purchased this camera based off a couple reviews and images I had seen.

I am struggling with calibrating and processing with this camera. The background is "large scale blotchy" have doing a ton of reading and processing, I found not using flats really made a big enough difference that I could complete processing to a point of being happy and posting it.

So the PI workflow was pretty basic: Calibrate, debayer, register, intergrate, drizzle 2x, DBE, BN, CC, MSLT, HT, LHE and then off to PS for some levels and curves.

Still have a lot of work to do, but now I have something to go on. My flat setup is a DYI with a sketching LED panel deal I got off Amazon. So I need to revisit how I do flats. Processing around no flats was not that bad in PI with DBE, but a couple of dust donuts are in there. Actually one I worked on PS with the stamp tool also. Hope it is not too apparent!

Made a commitment this year to image more from dark skies and not my red zone backyard, so I decided Thursday at work to haul all my gear for a night of imaging since the forecast was looking good. Hardest part was having to work the next morning, so I was dragging at the office the next day! But going from a SQM 18.1 sky to 21.1 in roughly 50min is well worth it!
