Description

Two years ago, I shared an image here. I also mentioned my delusions of plowing through a big backlog of data that I have collected. I didn't do that. And, like many others, 2018 was a very lean year for collecting data, anyhow. So, this time I won't say anything about whether I plan to process an image more than every other year, but I remain optimistic!

As for data collecting, this year is off to a better start. Set up with a new RV (I traded in the StarPod), I made my first outing to Chiefland Astronomy Villiage for the late April new moon. I was there with my son, Josh Smith. We worked on one project together, M64, where he captured some of the nearby IFN while I was a bit more close up to the galaxy. We had a great week and he already published his data, as well as his processing of my data in the inset on Astrobin ( https://www.astrobin.com/403995/C/ ). I am not sure it that link works right, but if not, search for Josh or for M64 IFN and it will be one of the few images that comes up.

This is my take on processing my data, which is always risky, since Josh is a very good processor (even if I am biased). But is sure is great to have an excuse to go hang out with my son!

I may finally present this with a tighter crop, but I so love thumbing around in the background looking for tiny galaxies...

Perhaps also of interest, this is first time that I processed something mainly in Pixinsight.

I hope you enjoy the image. Comments are welcome, of course.
