Description

Crater Kepler, one of the most iconic rayed craters on the Moon. This is a colour image captured under good seeing conditions. The scene is remarkable for the depth of colour with hues of browns, blues and greens through the lunar grey. Pleasingly there is an almost complete absence of diffraction ring artefacts at the edges of the craters.
Kepler's rays are overlapped by those of crater Copernicus which is out of view at bottom right.
