Description

Imaged Jupiter on the night of June 14/15, 2019. Main objectives of this observing session were to observe Europa transiting Jupiter and the Great Red Spot. I was also trying on a new Celestron Focus Motor for SCTs which worked like a charm and seems to provide finer control over focus than my JMI motor focuser. Most of my imaging with with a UV-IR cut filter, except around the time of the best visibility for the GRS when I grabbed a series of captures through IR-685 nm and IR-850 nm pass filters (toying with getting a CH4 filter and figured the IR-850 nm pass would give me a sense of how that would perform and as expected integration times go way up like an order of magnitude).

Imaged with a C8 Evo, custom Siebert 2x barlow, ZWO ADC, Baader UV-IR Cut/Baader IR 685 nm Pass/ZWO 850 nm Pass filters, and ZWO ASI224MC. Imaging train was configured to give me ~F/20. Image capture using Firecapture with gain set at 350 and exposures ranging from 5 ms (UV-IR cut) to 100 ms (IR 850 nm Pass). Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of ~20,000 frames captured over 180 seconds.). Color balancing and Wavelet sharpening in Registax6. Derotated images in WinJUPOS. Composite image generated using GIMP.
