Description

Comparison of benefit of using lucky imaging versus long exposure with the same optical instrument.

long exposure performed with ASI174MM-cooled for RGB channels with C8 + focal reducer

long exposure in Halpha with my new acquisition ASI1600MM-cooled pro with C8 + focal reducer

lucky imaging with my new ASI290MC and C8 (no focal reducer and no guiding)

I did first a L synthetic/Ha + HaRGB (long exposure)

I replaced the L channel with lucky imaging one and added the previous captured Ha

The resolution is amazingly improved. For the purpose of the comparison I cropped the long exposure to fit it with the smaller size sensor of the ASI290MC

Finally I added 1 hour of Halpha captured in July 2020.
