Description

As suggested by Bob J, I am posting my first "electronically acquired" image.

I did it in Aberdeen Scotland back in 1994 (April 19th). I was using a LX200 on its fork mount and the image was acquired using a ST4 autoguider at FD=10.

Its is a 2 x 30 sec exposures (165 x 192 pixels). The stars are ... elongated, I guess due to approximate mount pointing and no guiding.

The unbelievable thing is that I captured SN1994I in this galaxy by pure luck ... it was a friend that pointed out the star close to the core of the galaxy weeks after I took the image.

Of course, it never occured again !

I have created an animation with more recent data to compare this image with 2017 data. The arms of the galaxy are just visible on the 1994 image.
