Description

This is a collaboration with Jerome Yesavage (Astrobin user jerryyyyy).

In the same way that Voyager 2 launched before Voyager 1, my second collaboration is ready for launch before my first. I’ve been working on an image together with Jerome Yesavage since late March / early April. We started talking about the targets that were next on our list and I had mentioned Abell39. He took over the lion’s share of this project and gave me his data for it. I was able to add 8 hours of my own data to this (thanks to Jarrett Trezzo who merged the data for me).

When I first saw this object, my main impression was that it was a featureless ball. But after spending some time processing it, I realize it does have a good deal of surface detail with a prominent lip as well as denser parts towards the lower left, an interesting triangular structure from about 5 o'clock heading towards the center, etc.

All the Astrodon data is from Jerome; I only contributed the Chroma subs.
