Description

A classic case of 'biting off more than you can chew.' I've really wanted to go after this pair for a while, but I didn't think I could make it work since I only have an 8" scope, my skies are pretty bright and it doesn't rise all that high from my location. I used the latter one as my main excuse, but I recently got a pier extension for my EQ6-R. That gave me just enough height to make a go for it.

However, I ran out of time.

I was planning on getting 10 hours of lum and 4 hours each of RGB, but ended up with less than 6 hours of lum and about 1.5-2 hours of each color channel. Bright skies and insufficient data don't mix well. At the moment, it hits a tree less than an hour after astronomical darkness and my last session only netted me 20 minutes of data, so I'm calling it a day and will try to gather more data for it next year. Maybe I'll aim for even more than 22 hours next year? Until then, I gave it some quick and dirty processing (I really, really should be working right now, but I needed a break!).
