Description

This is a portion of the region around Sadr. This was primarily a test of a new mount, an EQ6R Pro which performed wonderfully. Alas, it was close to full moon. Still, I was surprised at how much the image contained despite the moon.

This was collected over five nights.

Processing was fairly straightforward. The biggest challenges were not being able to use DBE effectively because of the lack of good places for sample points so I opted for ABE. This was probably not the best choice for nights dominated by the moon but I was testing out the EQ6R and I'm fairly limited in target choices from my back yard.

Also, Sadr had a huge halo and brought out the microlens diffraction pattern inherent to the ASI600. I tried to reduce the halo as best I could but that left this yellowy/brown nebula behind that looks kind of like light pollution gradients would. I guess in a sense Sadr was the light pollution in this case. I almost went with a crop that left Sadr out because of this but it felt too claustrophobic and I preferred the wider view even with its warts.
