Description

While on travel to Western Argentina for the 2019 Total Solar Eclipse, I had a few night under relatively dark southern skies.

This is a 45 minutes (15x3mins) stack with a rented Sigma 105 mm F1.4 at F:2 through a modded Canon 6D.

Tracked on an astrotrac.

This lens is a monster, but quite good at F:2. Daytime sky flats were bust with it, too short of an exposure time for Pixinsight to ingest.

Most processing done in Pixinsight, with just a little PS to shift the color balance and export a jpg.

Besides the Southern Cross and Coal Sack, notice the deep red stellar looking object next to the center of the image, embedded in the Coal Sack. To my suprise, this seems to be the tiny emission Nebula Gum 46 / RCW 71, but I will stand corrected in pointed otherwise.
