Description

Posted following the great suggestion by Van McComas under the post "A Celebration of Mankind in Space" to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission...

This is the fourth in a series of images taken at the NASA JSC Rocket Park during a conjunction of the Moon and Saturn on October 23, 2017. I scoped out the setting and lines of sight around dusk when only the waxing crescent moon was visible, then returned after dark to capture the Moon, Saturn, and these great rockets.

This fourth image captures the waxing crescent moon and Saturn up close after dark.

Imaged with a Nikon D750, 28-300 mm NIkkor zoom lens at 250 mm and F/5.6 with an exposure of 3 sec to capture the Earthshine illuminated side of the Moon. No tracking in this image so the stars are trailing a bit.
