Description

With the weather finally cooperating, I was finally able to head to my local dark sky preserve. As it is later in the summer months, this target will be harder to capture since it only rises just over 20 degrees at my latitude.

The lagoon Nebula is a large, 55 light year in diameter, Nebula located 4077 light years away. It is one of the brighter Nebulas in the sky and can easily be seen in modest telescopes. The Trifid Nebula is a smaller 42 light year diameter nebula located 5200 light years away from Earth. This nebula is very interesting as it has the pink H II star formation region, and a bright blue reflection nebula right next to it. Just like the Lagoon Nebula, this Nebula can also be seen with a modest telescope.
