Description

This object is a faint planetary nebula located 5000 light years away in the constellation of Ophiuchus, at a declination of +10 degrees. Its apparent size to us of 1.3 arc-minutes corresponds to a true diameter of about 2 light years. The white dwarf is plainly visible in the center of the nebula. The OIII signal is much stronger than Ha for this nebula.

Planetary nebulae are like snowflakes, all different in their exact structure. But it is interesting to me that Abell 43 has a similar structure and composition to that of other PN I have imaged. I have attached a comparison image of 4 PN which shows the similar OIII filamentary arcing structures which weave through each of these objects.
