Description

My first time I tried the wizard fog. Another picture I took with the Optolong L enhancer filter since I bought it in May this year. It makes it pretty easy to capture narrowband images with a color camera. However, the post-processing of such images requires further improvements, since I do not extract the individual RGB channels for editing. But while I was editing this image in Pixinsight, I noticed an interesting behavior. Because of the filter the picture is greenish after the stacking process. Now I have two options to continue editing. First, you start directly with background extraction, neutralization and color calibration. Then the green is removed and the fog appears red. Or secondly, by going through a SCNR first, then the picture turns yellow. For me its a nice effect, because you can work without extracting the RGB-channels to create a false-color image. My conclusion, I am very satisfied with the Optolong L enhancer filter, as it is a good alternative to mono cams and 3 single narrowband filters. Therefore, a cheaper option. Nevertheless, better quality can be achieved with individual filters.
