Description

Canon T3i Test #1 – Shutter Speed Test

I performed two tests with the new/used Canon T3i last night. This first test was to test out the 500 Rule. As you may know the rule states 500 ÷ focal length equals the shutter speed so for the 16 mm lens it should be 31.25 seconds (rounded to 30 seconds). I have started to use the 400 Rule which would put the shutter speed at 25 seconds which is what was used on this image. Upon close examination on Full Resolution I am still have star trails. So I think my next test will be (400 ÷ 16) step down one setting to 20 seconds.

This was shot on JPG Large in order to see how many image the card would hold and how long the battery would last. Your input will be greatly appreciated.
