Description

M56 is a globular cluster in the Lyra constellation.

It has an apparent diameter of 8.8' and magnitude of 8.3: it is one of the less brilliant globular clusters, above all because it lacks the very bright nucleus that most of these types of clusters have. It is located at a distance of about 32,900 light years from the Earth and its diameter measures approximately 84 light years.
