Description

Found the Sombrero very easily by placing the Telrad using nearby visible stars; its distinctive shape was visible in the guider at 2 s exposures and it is visible in the imager at 1 s. I'm getting a little E-W oscillation. It's warm tonight. Chiller at 7 V, 14.5 °C.

Guiding: 9x50 Finder/Guider + DSI Ic + PHD 1.14.2

Camera: DSI IIc (chiller at ~1.7 A, T = 14.5 °C)

Acquisition: Nebulosity 3.1.5, no dither

Exposure: 36x300 s

Stacking: Neb 3, bad pixel map, bias included, normalize first, trans+rot align, 1.5 SD stack.

Processing: StarTools 1.3 Crop; Wipe:Color & Brightness; Develop 93.74%; Contrast; HDRptimize; Sharpen; Deconvolute: 3.0 pix; Track; Color:Bottom 2.0, Top Full, Sat 650%; Magic:Shrink 1; select large stars only, Magic:tighten 2; Repair:Warp. CS6+Astronomy Tools increase star color; layer mask unsharp mask 1.9 pix for dust lane; AstroFrame.
