Imaged at the International Dark Sky Park observation field at Staunton River State Park in Scottsburg, VA late July 2019 one night before the moon came up and dew came in, again at Pettigrew State Park in Cresswell, NC in early August and again at Pettigrew SP during the new moon on Sept 29. The final version is currently all data from the latter Pettigrew SP date.

- Canon 6D modified for Ha at ISO 800

- Samyang 135mm at f/2.2

- iOptron SkyGuider Pro mount

- 95x 120s exposures

First time, I could not see the Flying Bat Nebula in my test shots, or find it on Stellarium on the spot, so did not get quite the field of view framed as I wanted. Now I have a better idea how to frame the shot around both that and the Elephant Trunk - they can both fit in one frame. In fact at 135mm it's possible to frame the Fireworks Galaxy (NGC 6946, as seen in this image at the top), the Iris Nebula, Elephant Trunk and various clusters and cataloged dark nebulae (another version on which I am at work now).

Description: Good candidate for Drizzle Integration so I re-ran Star Alignment and Image Integration to generate drizzle files, then Drizzle Integration, then boosted saturation prior to stretching, HistogramTransformation, DarkStructureEnhance 1 iteration, then used TVGDenoise rather than MSLT for noise.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
