Description

NGC 6888, the Cresent Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus, about 5000 light-years away from Earth.

The central star named TYC3151-1765-1 has been shedding it's outer layers and is expected to go out with a bang in a spectacular supernova explosion.

This is a bi-color narrowband image Hydrogen alpha and doubly ionized oxygen. The two colors were combined in PI pixelMath.

Red = Ha

Green = Oiii

Blue = Oiii

SCNR was used to drive the green from the blue, then very little else was done except to reduce the back ground color noise.
