Description

Another set of Spring data that were "laying" around. Oh, how would it be nice if the weather would be like it was in Spring, I remember (even if it is very hard to since it seems to be an eternity ago) that I had once clear skies 6 nights in a row, during New Moon!
Chose the M64 galaxy since I did not target it before, and it is such an interesting target, belongs in every collection. And one step closer to get the Messier catalog done 😊.
As with M51 I decided to take short and long exposures, blending in the areas that came out better in each set. Was not quite necessary for M64 as it was for M51, the core is still not massively overexposed at 5 min, at least not from my LP backyard. Which is also evident comparing the number of stars that I can collect with other images here on Astrobin that were taken at dark or remote locations.
The details came out ok. Btw ... this is a heavy crop, first because otherwise it would be too small, second, I did not get flat files for all sets, and there were quite some dust bunnies on the sensor, for whatever reason, luckily not right on top of the galaxy. After collecting these data I cleaned up the whole set, was needed!
The last 2 nights were clear here (can you believe it?) and I finally had the chance to try out the new M48 connection on my filter wheel. Definitely better, not perfect though.  Seems to have a slight tilt in it as well, very unusual, have to check that out! Used the 0.72 reducer, and this might be just not perfect for the 6200, the edge stars look pretty rough.
