Description

47 Tucanae is the second largest globular cluster in our skies after Alpha Centauri. It's also one of my favourites to view through a telescope due to the ability to resolve countless delicate stars almost to the core. Lying only 13,000 light-years away near the Small Magellanic Cloud, it can be spotted naked-eye in dark skies with an appraent diameter similar to the Moon.

I always struggle to bring out star colours in this glob relative to Omega Centauri and M13. My main challenges being overexposed core stars and intellectual impairment using masks and ColorSaturation within PixInsight … which are still a work in progress for me.
