Description

I once again have had some luck finding a wonderful instrument second hand... this time a Celestron 9.25.

I have wanted to try my hand at better lunar imaging and planetary imaging and have known that the 800mm FL of my Newt was not going to do it. In addition, I was able to obtain both the 0.63x reducer and the HyperStar lens for this scope in the deal. So I have some interesting experimentation on the horizon...

But of course, true to the curses that surround the acquisition of something new, something happens. This time, when I was driving home after making the deal and with the instrument in the back seat of my car, I was involved in a car accident in which I got rear-ended while waiting for a light to change.

Fortunately, no serious injuries to me but sure knocked the scope around and out of collimation.

I have been trying to dial in the collimation and I think I'm fairly close.

This is my first-light with this C9.25. My first impressions is that this is really nice visually. I think I still have some tweaking to do to the collimation but I am pretty happy with the first images I have been able to make. This one is the best 10% of an 800 image run.
