Description

Bright nebulae M16 and M17, dark nebulae, and star clouds of northern Sagittarius and southern Scutum.

The central parts of the Milky Way barely (or don't) rise at 53.5 deg North in Ireland. So while on vacation with my family, a good 16 degrees further south in Portugal, I did some scouting for remote(-ish) upland spots, as dark as possible yet within about half an hour's drive from where we were staying. This Bortle 3 location is as dark as the sky gets in SW Portugal.

Fuji X-A3, Mamiya 80mm f/1.9 at f/4.

11 x 2 minutes, AstroTrac.

15 x 2 minutes of dark frames.

Processed in Deep Sky Stacker and IRAF.
