Description

I worked on this image back in 2017 that was published in Sky & Telescope Magazine with my Stellarvue SV70T. I wanted to get in a bit closer to Sh2-115 and Sh2-116, so captured a bunch of new data with my SVX102T-R and then attempted to combine the two data sets together. I haven't had much of a problem in the past manually integrating two data sets, but got a lot of RANSAC errors this time around in PixInsight. Anyways, after fumbling around with some of the setting, I was abel to get some of the old 2017 data set to integrate with my new data set, but not all of it unfortunately.

Sh2-115 is a faint emission nebula cataloged by S.Sharpless in 1959. It is located in Cygnus, just 1 and 2 degrees northwest of Deneb, the brightest star of that constellation.

Sh2-116, or Abell 71, is the designation of the small round patch of emission nebulosity to the left of Sh2-115. It is also known as Sh2-116 and PK85+4.1. The latter being designated as a planetary nebula, but it has more recently been described as a small patch of emission nebula.
