Description

I have posted an image of this object before, but this one is much improved with a better camera and a lot more data. Its still only bin 2 at 1 arc second per pixel though.

Its 820,000 light years away, so quite a few stars are resolved. I am not sure about that bluish faint fuzzy within the galaxy. Its probably a distant background galaxy showing through since this type of galaxy rarely has any nebula or gas left. The galaxies at the upper right are spiral galaxy IC 591 and the dimmer edge-on spiral PGC 213668.

That's Regulus just outside the field of view. Its best to image this object with a reflector when its at a position in the sky such that diffraction spikes from Regulus straddle the galaxy.
