Description

NGC 457 & NGC 436

The brightest open cluster in the constellation Cassiopeia, NGC 457 (Caldwell 13), also known as the “Owl Cluster”, was discovered by William Herschel in 1787. It is estimated 7,900 light years from Earth.

“And company”, NGC 436, also discovered by Herschel, is a small, dim open cluster located in the same constellation.
