Description

I've always wanted to image the Cygnus Wall, but never got around to it as there are so many other targets during the summer that attract me more. Ordinarily I wouldnt bother imaging during a full moon, but I built an obsy this spring and the simple act of sliding the roof off wasn't too much trouble.

So, I visited the Cygnus Wall during the nights surrounding the full moon and despite having less contrasty integrations to work with, the data was surprisingly nice. I realized afterwards that removing moon gradients from an image that is edge to edge nebulosity or dust was not exactly easy. I used only 5 DBE points and stuck them over the heavy dust hoping that these spots would simulate empty space. Not sure if it worked, but I was able to restore some contrast.

It doest hurt that I'm using 3nm narrowband filters, and in my opinion after seeing the results in this image, I no longer have any excuses to not capture data during the full moon.

Thanks for looking.
