Description

This crowded area on the border of Cassiopeia and Cepheus, is home to several nebulae and clusters. Captured over the course of 3 nights in the beginning and end of August and processed using the HST palette, with SII in Red, HA in Green and OIII in Blue.

NGC7538: located about 9,100 light-years from Earth. It is home to the biggest yet discovered protostar which is about 300 times the size of the Solar System

NGC7635: also known as the Bubble Nebula, and distanced about 11,000 light-years. The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind from a massive hot, 8.7 magnitude young central star, SAO 20575. The nebula is near a giant molecular cloud which contains the expansion of the bubble nebula while itself being excited by the hot central star, causing it to glow.

Messier 52: distance to M52 has not been established with any degree of certainty because of a high interstellar absorption of the cluster’s light. Estimates are generally in the range from 3,000 to 7,000 light years, and it is not physically related to the Bubble nebula.

NGC7510: an open cluster of stars located around 11,400 light years away.

Sh2-157: the Lobster Claw nebula, a weak emission nebula located on the arm of Perseus and approximately 11,000 light-years away from Earth. The nebula spans over a region of 212 light-years.

LBN573: a planetary nebula in the Sh2-157 area
