Description

Barnard 142 and 143 form together something like the letter "E", which is a good description of the visual impession in binoculars under a good sky. The stars of the Aquila milkyway are strongly reddened by dust and finally extinct in the densest clouds. The southern part of B142 contains a Herbig-Haro object, HH387, which is a hint to ongoing star formation.
