The Planets Rise – A Time Lapse Project

I finally got a clear sky night out on the first days of my 10 day vacation. Since I can’t go anywhere, except the end of the street in the cul-de-sac, I decided to plan out four astrophotography projects; this one is #2 (I have already posted #4). This is a time lapse of the rise of Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and the Moon, shot from 3:30 AM until 5:30 AM on Friday, April 17, 2020. I shot 240 images, one every 30 seconds. My initial settings were an ISO 1600, 20 seconds, f/2.8 with the Canon T3i and the Rokinon 16 mm lens. As the Moon started to rise I dropped the settings down to ISO 800 and exposure time from 20 seconds slowly down to 6 seconds. This was a fun project despite the cold (just above freezing at that hour). I hope you like this animation of the planets and Moon rise.
