Description

This is most of the Lion Nebula, Sh2-132, in narrowband bi-color, with RGB stars. My camera orientation was not optimal, so could not capture the entire structure of this fascinating object., but still got enough to evoke the likeness of the lion, I think.

This is an emission region in the constellation Cepheus, guesstimated to be between 10,000 to 12,000 light-years away, in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way. I am particularly fascinated by the 'searchlight' feature that appears to emanate from inside main the Hα region of the nebula.

The 'mix' for this palette was:

Red = (1.3 x Hα)

Green = (0.7 * OIII) + (0.3 * Hα)

Blue = (1.2 * OIII) + (0.2 * Hα)

with rescale enabled.

Thanks for looking, and any comments, questions or critiques are welcome.
