Description

This picture won't win any awards, but I think it is novel/amusing to see Jupiter and Saturn in the same frame.

The faint "star" about 1/3 of the way from Jupiter to Saturn is Jupiter's moon Callisto.

In from that towards Jupiter is Ganymede, and in from that is Europa.

You can also see the Great Red Spot on the planet -- I'll include a video with that next where it is more obvious.

One of the other amusing things about this image is that it was taken with narrowband filters -- HA and O-III -- and converted to a false RGB. I have to use narrowband filters on the planets with my normally deep-sky gear because the exposures would be too short.

There is also some slight-of-hand in the processing to make Saturn, Jupiter, and the moons come out sufficiently bright to see -- they're each scaled differently. (All done by software, not by hand.)
