Description

Milkyway wide field mosaic, taken between July 2012 and June 2013

This is a high resolution image (30 arcsec per pixel), remember to select "View -> Full resolution" to see all the details.

The earth panorama was taken in a moonless night from the same location as the sky frames, and mounted as seen from 47°50' latitude at 17:30 sidereal time.

Lens aperture was f/4

I used an Arduino based selfmade controler for triggering the DSLR and slowing down the AstroTrac via the guider port between frames to get a bit of dithering.

All the equipment needed (plus sleeping bag) fits into a backpack. I go to the imaging location by bike :-)
