Description

M11, the Wild Duck Cluster is located in the constellation of Scutum. It is estimated to be about 250 million years old which by the standard of our Galaxy, is relatively young. I struggle to see the resemblance to a wild duck in the image I have to admit. The entire cluster is estimated to contain about 2900 start which is quite busy. Distance to this object is around 5000 light years.

The image was taken with a Canon 550D DSLR connected to a Skywatcher Blackdiamond 100mm f9 refractor. Image is comprised of 10 subs at ISO800 and 180 seconds each exposure time.
