Description

This image captures an obscure pair of objects located in the constellation of Perseus at a declination of +42 degrees.

In the lower left quadrant of the image is the triangularly-shaped Berkeley 68 open star cluster. This is a tough cluster to pick out from the background. It consists of 50 stars in a diameter of about 12 arc-minutes and does not include the brightest foreground stars. It lies about 5500 light years away from us, which makes the cluster about 20 light years in diameter.

At the upper right corner is the small but beautiful reflection nebula GN 04.41.8. The nebula is primarily blue but has hints of red, purple and yellow on the right side.
