Description

Waxing Crescent moon nearing a quarter stage - shot around midnight Sunday. I kept the image as it was out of the camera, not flipped. We see the Sea of Tranquility above the terminus, with the Sea of Vapors coming just into view near the terminus. The Tycho crater east region is showing on top left from this view, which would be the south-east quadrant of the moon - but I liked the composition as is for horizontal display.

The sky was Bortle 8/9, taken in downtown Milwaukee. The moon was low in the horizon and tracked manually via a Porta II alt-az mount via slow-motion controls on a mildish night to be outside above 40 degrees Fahrenheit - which was balmy and enjoyable after a cold month.

File from about 5 minutes of .AVI Raw8 capture. ZWO ASI462MC with an Astronomic IR Pro Planet filter, from a Vixen ED81S wt doublet APO, Moonlight manual focus out on a Stellarvue Quartz Star Diagonal.

Images captured via Sharpcap, processed via Autostakkert!, to keep 50% of frames. Minor editing for sharpness via Photoshop and DXO photo lab for this png output as full mono tiff cannot be displayed on Astrobin well.
