Description

After a comedy of user errors, at long last, I have finished my first image using my new ASI2600MM mono camera. I've learned a lot the hard way. I have more appreciation from my OSC ASI2600MC. I am sold though on the increased details and flexibility using mono and LRGB filters. I'm waiting for narrowband filters...on back order.

It probably is not fair to compare to my OSC M106 taken from my backyard, as the data for this image is from darker, drier skies of New Mexico (near Las Cruce, Roswell, and Truth or Consequences). But on the other hand my processing skills for LRGB are at the beginning stage. It's a whole new ballgame, much to learn. In this image I had trouble with the background, hence the aggressive black point. and I have one star with artifacts...didn't mask it out correctly for decon. I'll start from scratch with this data when I learn more.

details of my errors: found out the LRGB filters are not light pollution filters (wasted 2 nights). ended up buying the L2P light pollution luminance filter from Astrodon. one night I totally screwed up the flats and dark flats...much more concentration is needed when doing 4 filters in one night. Maybe I'll just use 2 filters a night over 2 nights. One night I left my OSC Lpro light pollution filter on my flattener while taking LRGB. (actually this may be OK when moonlight and bortle 6...I'll be testing). One night I left the bahtinov mask on...nice. 5 clear nights of lost data.

Description: gosh LRGB offers so much control and increased details. In this reprocessed image I balanced the color using PhotoMetricColorCal and fixed some star artifacts I introduced in first version...better masking for deconvolution.
