Description

NGC3953 is a tightly wound barred spiral galaxy located in the direction of the Constellation Ursa Major at an approximate distance of 50 Million Light-Years. It is a member of the Ursa Major North Galaxy Group, and closely resembles M109, a directionally close neighbor. Two supernovae have been noted in NGC3953 in 2001 and 2006. NGC3953 is slightly larger than the Milky Way in diameter at around 110-112 thousand light-years
