Description

I used to think that the South Celestial Pole was a rather uninteresting place. How wrong I was. Not unlike it terrestrial counterpart, it is infrequently visited but it has a magnificent beauty. The Camaeleon Molecular cloud complexes are well worth an image or two, and after taking a shot of the cloud complex containing CED111, I ventured even further south - past declination 80S - for my image last night.

I initially found this rather magnificent cosmic "V" cloud complex on the DSS-R images. I haven't done it proper justice and might supplement it with more data tonight.

The Thumbprint (more like thumb tip) nebula is in the NorthEast corner.
