Description

Of course my first clear night in what seems like forever is during a full moon.  I've been doing a lot of tinkering lately as I have an hour here and there between clouds.  Tilt has been one of the more challenging components to deal with and while my stars are not perfect, they are pretty darn close!  I've dialed spacing in at 111.5mm.  Using Roland's method to test spacing where you move focus in and out to see if corners change both show lower quality stars in the corners, so I think I'm optimized.  I'm more than satisfied and this is a huge FOV with the GTX and 6200 camera.  This combo handled Sadr like a champ and the data looks very nice despite the full moon (using 5nm Ha filter).

I will say, that it is such a joy to use this new to me 900GTO mount.  It's 12 years old and I bought it second hand but this mount is a thing of beauty.  I collected five hours of 20 min subs last night and every single frame was perfect with tight round stars.  So nice to have a mount that just fades into the background.  I'll probably do a grease job on it this fall and redo the Pempro curve (or at least verify whether it can be improved) and go from there.  I am using APCC Pro with a 200 point model which really smoothed out the guiding.  Most of last night I was guiding below 0.4"/px with 3 second exposures using PHD2 MSG.

As for this image, minimal processing. I calibrated, ran DBE, and stretched.  Nothing else.  I'm not sure if I will continue collecting for this target.  It's a nice field, but not one that is at the top of my list right now.  I decided last night I needed a bright target that I could get a decent number of ours on during the full moon.

C&C welcome.
