Description

This image of the Rosette is a bit noisier than I would expect with 1.7 hr total integration and a Bortle 3 site. I guess it's surface brightness is quite low and I pushed the stretching a bit to far? I've tried imaging it from my Bortle 8 backyard, but that was hopeless, very little nebulosity after subtracting out the light pollution. Looks like I'll need to keep collecting more data on the Rosette and clean up the image over time.

I imaged 4 targets on March 6-7 from William's Hill Recreation Area, Bortle 3, elevation 2700':

Rosette Nebula

M51 Whirlpool Galaxy

M81-M82 Bodes Galaxy - Cigar Galaxy

NGC 5128 Centaurus A

I did lose some subs due to high clouds, but it was mostly clear. The biggest problem and cause for many lost subs was poor seeing and wind. I was setup on a ridge and the wind was about 10mph with gust up to about 20mph. Stars were 5-8 arcsec FWHM and tracking error typically 1.5-2 arcsec. Given that, I was happy to get some reasonable images.
