Description

M101 is a beautiful face on spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. At a distance of 17.5 million light years and 900 light years across, it appears roughly 22 min arc in diameter. It contains many hot blue young stars, and star forming regions rich in hydrogen alpha. Taken using a 6" F/6.45 Apochromat.
