Description

Sh2 196 is the one in the upper left, the three in the center are respectively from the upper left in clockwise direction: 193, 192 and 194.

The stars in this one are the result of attending a few lectures at AIC this year.

Somebody said a good way to get clean stars is to use the luminosity from the RGB. So I denoised the RGB in Photoshop and clipped it heavily to remove background and tighten the stars. Then I extracted the L from these RGB stars. The stars produced in Pixinsight Star Net++ have some sort of masking artifact around them.

So I added these stars back into the denoised destarred versions of the HA, merged with the RGB (red channel) and then used this HA as L, all in Photoshop (standard procedures).

Then, back in Pixinsight I took the final images and subtracted the stars in L from the final image and then added back in the RGB stars. Unless I did the subtraction the stars were all white.
