Description

The glowing gas and dust cloud complex of Rho Ophiuchi. Located just north of the great amber colored star Antares 360 light years away, this is a beautiful stellar nursery where stars are literally born. The dust obscures more high frequency light, making the background stars appear reddish-brown. This picture is the result of more than 6 nights of imaging and several hours of calibrating, integrating, and post-processing.
