Description

NGC 7331 in Pegasus is the visually larger spiral galaxy in this image, a part of the Deer Lick Group of galaxies. However, this group is not really a group at all, it is only an accidental alignment. The background galaxies are in absolute terms similar size to NGC 7331, but lie about 10 times farther away than the 50 million light-years distance of NGC7331. NGC 7331 is very similar to our galaxyy in size, shape and mass, with similar spiral arms. But NGC 7331 lacks the bar and dust that cuts through our own Milky Way.

Description: I thought I could bring out more detail in the fainter regions of NGC 7331 and also more of the fainter background galaxies and some detail there. It is a challenge to bring out those details without blowing out the galaxy core as well as the stars. But I am much happier with the balance in this revision.
