My first attempt at imaging this object and also using a new "starless" processing technique documented by Barry Wilson. I was really keen to get a wider field to capture more of the Veil...it is a dramatic part of the sky, I think you will agree!

What was surprising to me was the sheer amount of OIII data...shooting on a new moon night greatly helped and the Oxygen data was crisp.

Some background summarised from Sky Safari: NGC 6960 is the western segment of the Great Cygnus Loop, the remnants of a supernova explosion estimated to have occurred 5,000 to 8,000 years ago. William Herschel discovered the complex in 1784. The bright star in the frame is 52 Cygni. The distance to the nebula is not precisely known, with estimates ranging from 1,400 to 2,600 light-years.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
