Description

Recently upgraded my H-alpha solar telescope to a double stacked configuration. I'd heard great things about the increase in contrast and detail with a double stacked system and it did not disappoint.

Imaged with a Lunt LS50Tha, Lunt LS50C compact double stack filter, 2.5x Televue Powermate, ZWO ASI290MM. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/18. Image capture using Firecapture. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of 1000 frames). Processed in Registax (wavelet sharpening).

Original image: 2021/05/01, Comparison of single (top) and double stacked (bottom) images.

Rev A: 2021/05/05, Filaproms really seem to 'pop' with the double stack

Rev B: 2021/05/08, AR2822 and a nice prom.
