Description

Nothing to see here...except some photons that travelled for nearly 3 million years to reach the tiny pixels, in my tiny camera, on a little planet, in a single solar system, in a 'timeless' universe. In a little over 15 minutes there was sufficient electrical signal to provide a 2D image of this enormous 3D galaxy, 60,000 LY in diameter and estimated to contain over 40 billion suns. Extraordinary, you have to agree! [Wikipedia]

First recorded in 1654, and catalogued by Charles Messier a hundred years later, and the spiral form described by Lord Rosse using his 72" 'leviathan', its true glory was only revealed with the advent of photography. Without detracting from the extraordinary achievement of these pioneers and the knowledge they imparted, I'm always amazed at the detail I can see with my tiny 1/2" chip, in a 3" scope.

A handful of 120s frames were captured in Envisage, aligned, stacked and processed in Nebulosity. M33 certainly deserves much more attention...but probably not until better weather and Autumn skies return later in the year.
