Description

M109 in Ursa Major. A beautiful spiral galaxy. I had planned to take at least nine hours of exposure time on this object. However, the weather just north of New York City has been very unfavorable to imaging over the past month. I have had exactly two clear nights in the last three weeks. The forecast for the next week doesn't look any better. Thus, I must settle for what I have.

This image is composed of 10, 180-second subs (for each channel) in R, G and B, plus 40, 180-second Luminance subs taken through my Explore-Scientific 127mm triplet APO with a .8 focal reducer. Total exposure time is 3.5 hours, which is not nearly enough, but may be all I am apt to get.
