Description

Tycho at the centre of my image, dominates the southern uplands. At full moon an extensive system of rays emanate from Tycho, but at other phases these are less obvious. Tycho is 82km across and it’s central peak rises to 2km from the crater floor.

Surrounding Tycho are the giant crater Clavius (230km across, 3.5km deep) above, Maginus (194km across, 4.3km deep) to left, and Longomontanus (145km across, 4.5km deep) to the right.

Taken at native f10 this image comprises 80 x 0.0625s frames automatically stacked and tracked, at 50% quality with a medium edge filter applied after 10 frames

The mouseover is taken at f20 (4000mm) comprising 80 x 0.2500s subs, with a hard edge filter applied after 10 frames.
